"Save Us This Night" - Art inspired by the Passover and Story of Moses

One of my favorite prophets of all time is Moses.  His story is timeless, faith-inspiring, and gives hope that God hears our prayers and is able to help us through our troubles.  So, I decided to make a piece that reflected the night of the passover.

As you may know, Moses (and his brother Aaron) had come to Pharoah to ask that the Children of Israel be freed from slavery.  After a series of plagues, the last would be that the angel of death would come and kill the firstborn in every house that did not have the lamb's blood marking.  The angel of death did come and all of the firstborn, including the Pharoah's own, died.  The lamb's blood demarcation (along with the power of God and the faith from the Children of Israel) saved many lives in this story.

This piece is a mosaic made from handmade ceramic tiles, and shattered glass.  I designed the tiles to look like doors but to each be unique.  All have delicate details and have been glazed with a somewhat "old" looking glaze.  The black line going through the piece represents the angel of death and the line recoils from the red glass placed between it and the door.  The red glass represents the blood on the door posts.

I hope you like it.
